The Holocaust was the most devastating event that happened during the World War II Era. Even though I was not in Germany or the European states during this time, I heard many tragic and heartbreaking stories of the concentration and death camps. To me, just hearing the words “concentration” and “death” scares me. Due to the fact that Hitler and the Nazis despised the Jews and the other minority that are the ideal race of Aryans, they were sent to the death camps. All Jews living in Europe were given a Star of David so that the Jews could be distinguished wherever they go. Hitler gave the responsibility of killing and getting rid of the Jews to Henrich Himmler and his SS organization. Killing the Jews, the job was called the Final Solution. Many innocent young and old Jews were sent to one of the most horrendous death/concentration camps which was the Auschwitz Death Camp. When they arrived at the camp, their valuables and belongings were taken away, and each person’s head were shaved off and the officers there engraved numbers and letters on their wrists. If there were young children and senior citizens that cannot work because of their age they were directly sent into gas chamber that only took seconds to kill them. These Jews were forced into labor daily almost twenty-four hours. Their main purpose was to dehumanize every single Jew there was. HOW EVIL!!!

You sir, are a lucky man for not witnessing the full effect of the mass murder. I am a German, sir. And I once fell in the steps of Hitler, honoring him. As I look back, I truly see how foolish I was. I came to my senses and realized that all this reckless killing is horrendous and foolish. I remember the dead bodies around me and see the faces of the desperate Jews calling for help. And I mourn for their losses, for they could have been saved. Lets fight our way towards resistance against Hitler, sir!

Not being in Europe during the Holocaust must have been a true blessing, I must say.
ReplyDeleteNo words can describe the horror that was driven into every Jewish person's heart and mind. With every look over the shoulder, we stared death in the face.
My family was just one of the many who were shipped off to a death camp like..like a load of cattle!
We have been mistreated because of our faith; what has humanity come to?

:( Poor Jews that suffered in the Holocaust. I honor them in my song "A Survivor from Warsaw." What the Germans have done to Jews is just not right. They treated them like animals. Even worse, the women and children were also shipped to these death camps. Many died from these death camps and I am happy to see that someone is on my side when it comes to the Nazis and Hitler.
